Response to “Hillary Clinton’s Agenda” & “Who are the super predators?”

In the article “Hillary Clinton’s Agenda”, Hillary’s overly ambitious agenda with urban planning is discussed. In response to reading the article, I found it interesting that Hillary Clinton’s plans as president would be to “direct hundreds of billions of dollars in new investments to places like Harlem and rural South Carolina”, it is unclear where that hefty price tag of $125 billion would come from. Her plans to put a “tax on wall Street” has good intentions, yet it will be extremely difficult especially if Congress remains Republican. With her “Breaking Every Barrier” plan, she makes a lot of proposals that seem overly ambitious and may not be feasible. Her plans rely a lot on taxing the wealthier Americans, and she will face resistance to new taxes and spending. I feel like her proposals were merely to interest voters, I do not believe the plans will be executed or to the extent that she has promised.

In response to the “Who are the super predators’ article Melissa Valentine discusses our current presidential election. I love how she so eloquently states “Not even in my wildest dreams could I imagine that after our first black president, we would see a woman, an openly racist billionaire, and a Jewish socialist running against each other. Also historic is the presence of the Black Lives Matter movement in the election.” This was profound to me, I got so caught up in the presidential election, and how insane it has been that I forgot to realize the characters of this presidential election. I like that Melissa Valentine included a quote from Bill Clinton in the article “We wound up putting so many people in prison that there wasn’t enough money left to educate them, train them for new jobs and increase the chances when they came out so they could live productive lives.” This exemplified how under the Clinton administration lives of minorities especially black lives do not improve. The mere fact that Hillary Clinton stated “They are not just gangs of kids anymore, they are often the kinds of kids that are called super predators. No conscience, no empathy” astounds me. When she states this she completely discredits these so called “super predators” story, and how they came to be.
