If you haven’t taken the time to check out Wendy’s Twitter account, you are missing out on some serious laughs. Wendy’s has taken on a new approach to their social media and the voice they portray on social media, particularly Twitter. They regularly engage with other brands and Twitter users but not in the typical, corporate-like, customer-focused way. They regularly use sarcasm, humor, and wit to engage in the digital space. They regularly hate on their competitors, most frequently McDonalds. It is really quite amusing, and I appreciate how Wendy’s was not afraid to break away from typical corporate brand etiquette.

The Wendy’s social media managers feel that being authentic and funny have really helped develop the Wendy’s social voice. When customers tweet at Wendy’s criticizing the food or their burgers, Wendy’s gives it right back to them.
