I just finished reading Everything the Tech World Says About Marketing is Wrong. I am always hearing the term “content marketing” but, like the author Samual Scott, never understand why people and companies make this out to be a new concept. I really connected with this sentence, “Marketing has always been the creation of a message, the insertion of that message into a piece of content and the transmission of that content over a channel to an audience in an effort to build brands, increase demand and move people down sales funnels.” Yes! Exactly! So, why are traditional forms of marketing and online marketing strategies so often not being used together?

I agree with the author that it is critical that today’s tech marketers (and really all marketers) need a more well-rounded marketing education that includes both a solid traditional marketing foundation and a strong understanding of the digital marketing world in order to successfully build brand and better reach their customers.
