Hailing from Camarillo and the Los Angeles area, Mo Griffith is a creator who aims to help listeners find solace by sharing his truth through relatable music. Better known these days as Mojee, the rappers’ name serves as a mantra for his many listeners, “May Our Journey Exceed Expectation.” Mo sat down with the Uwavee team and was able to shed some light on how he got to this point and why it’s so important to let down his guard and make room for growth.

With versatile flow Mojee lyrics reflect the honesty of his life’s path, and the creative process to get there comprises self-reflection and detachment to desires: “It starts with sitting in my studio and listening to music without any expectations… I would say the process is just where the music takes me.” The rapper dives deep into the depths of himself to share his trials and successes with listeners in order to invoke connection on a level that anyone can relate to. In 2017 Mojee released his album Growing Pains; the closing bonus track “Visiting Hours” vividly relives his childhood health struggles and being faced with the temporariness of life from an early age, an experience that left a lasting impression on him to this day. It’s a great example of the artist sharing his vulnerabilities, and is a staple of what makes Mojee so relatable to his audience.

When it comes to creating, Mojee is careful about the energy circulating around him, yet understands the importance of working with others. “Collaboration for me… it’s a very therapeutic and meditative process, because you have to be willing to let down your ego to let the other person share their ideas.” His past collaboration with producer, visualist, and engineer Thomas Graham, represents the beauty that two passionate music creators can invent. Their song Gypsy holds a quick peek into the artists’ creative process: “the energy I need for a good flow, vision gets better when I breathe slow… meditate and getting in touch with that deeper part of my soul.” Clearly, Mo’s appeal comes from his constant self-reflective look inward with a completely honest portrayal of his being. Mojee draws inspiration from his influences like Logic and J. Cole, two artists also known for their thoughtful storytelling. He also loves being around nature, the aspect of peace in his art is representative of the times he has spent connected to the Earth around us. What makes Mojee great is how he opens up to the world, and the world returns insights that he can then share with listeners.

Mo emphasizes that he is more focused than ever on getting his content out on all platforms and in front of as many listeners as possible. With the buzz around Mojee growing, he hopes to spend more time interacting with the multitude of new fans that reach out. “I was thinking about how cool it is that I can hit up a friend on social media and say ‘Hey I need help with this hook’ or “I need help with some lyrics’…” Uwavee helps artists like Mojee network with other producers, audio engineers, or vocalists alike, to finish music in progress and earn through collaboration. The app offers artists independence and the freedom to offer services and receive instant access to a network of other musicians who are passionate about music. Mo Griffith is proof that with an open-minded approach and release of expectations, creating honest music can be the source of artistic and personal growth.
