During Pandemic — Third and Fourth Co-op Term Experience
Finding my third co-op job had its uncertainties but it was not as uncertain as finding my second co-op job. COVID-19 restrictions started to die down and there was more flexibility with jobs, Waterloo Works and social gatherings. I am thankful that God provided me with an 8-month co-op job instead of 4-month co-op job because my degree requires a completion of at least four out of five co-op terms to graduate. If I found a 4-month co-op job, I would had to find another 4 or 8-month co-op job to satisfy co-op requirements. The good news is that God is good and provided me with an 8-month co-op job so that I do not have the pressure or worry to satisfy co-op requirements. Thank you God for Your goodness and sovereignty over my co-op status!
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. -Romans 8:28
My third co-op job was one of the most ordinary health jobs because it involved working with patients and managing doctor’s requisitions. For some context, I worked at an X-ray, ultrasound clinic called Quantum Medical Imaging Services (QMIS). This clinic is located in Toronto, where the general population consists of many different multi-ethnic backgrounds. The main cultures consist of people from Hong Kong, people from mainland China and people born and raised in Canada. My responsibilities involved registering patients for their appointments, instructing patients to change prior to their appointment and cleaning up equipment during unprecedented times. So if anyone has questions about an ultrasound, x-ray, bone density or a mammogram appointment, feel free to ask me because I know which appointments are covered by OHIP (Ontario Health Insurance Plan) and which appointments are not covered by OHIP. I am grateful that God has given me the opportunity to bless the community by helping patients with their health!
As a side note, I will tell you the most common topic that I often hear at QMIS. I am not sure if any CCFers have ever heard of this but there are many mothers that would be participating in a program called OBSP (Ontario Breast Screening Program). This program is catered for women aged 50 to 74 years old with no history of breast cancer, breast implants and/or breast surgery. The government will send a letter to your mom, stating that your mom should get a routine mammogram check-up to screen for any signs of breast cancer or complications. It is free of charge and is covered by OHIP. If there are any questions or concerns about this topic, feel free to ask me. This information is still accurate from 2022 but if not, I can ask someone, who will know the answer!
What did I learn from this experience and how does it translate into a spiritual context? How does it relate to changing my character? The first thing that I learned is that there are benefits to speaking multiple languages. Learning how to speak multiple languages can help ease the transition of proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I recognized in my third co-op job that not everyone knows how to speak and/or understand English and so speaking in another language helps facilitate the language barrier. If you are able to learn certain key spiritual terms in another language, it can help to facilitate a fruitful conversation with an unbeliever, e.g. 主耶穌 = Jesus Christ. I am proficient in speaking English and Cantonese and so I feel comfortable having fruitful conversations about the Gospel of Jesus Christ in English and Cantonese. I have a working proficiency in Mandarin and so I do not feel comfortable having fruitful conversations in Mandarin. If someone asks me to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ in Mandarin, I will say, “你等一下吧，我現在問我的同事或者我的同學。” In other words, it says, “Please wait a moment. I will ask my colleagues or my classmates.” So my encouragement for all CCFers is that you will explore different cultures and make a conscious effort to adapt to different cultures so that the Gospel of Jesus Christ can be administered to these unreached groups. Do not always just stick to the same friend groups in UWCCF but try to make a conscious effort to reach out to different friend groups with different backgrounds.
The second thing that I have learned is that talking about Jesus Christ in a workplace setting is never easy but it is worth it in the end. Majority of my colleagues are not Christians. Majority of the patients are not Christians. There are always going to be patients inside the clinic and so finding the right time and energy to discuss about the Gospel of Jesus Christ can be a challenge. I am very grateful for the Lord providing Sara Kim, who was an X-ray technologist at QMIS. Sara Kim is a very devoted sister in Christ, who continued to encourage me to strengthen my relationship with Jesus Christ. There were times in my third co-op job, when I felt like discussing the Gospel of Jesus Christ would be very inconvenient. But she encouraged me with these verses that helped me be more comfortable to evangelize the Gospel of Jesus Christ:
The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise. -Proverbs 11:30
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All Power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, Io [reference to the Hebrew name Yohanan, which means God has favored], I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. -Matthew 28:18–20
I think these verses are very encouraging as it further illustrates that God will be with us in the past, present and future. There are times, when people fear what will happen if this person believes or does not believe in the Gospel. But brothers and sisters in Christ, we have to remember that God is sovereign over people’s characters and personalities. God is the only one that can change people’s hearts, minds and souls. The goal for brothers and sisters in Christ is to be true mediators and witnesses for Christ by proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This co-op experience gave me more hope and inspiration to believe that more of God’s ministry needs to be done.

Learning about the King James Bible

I am also very thankful that Sara graciously gave me books that further illustrate the importance of using only the King James Bible as the Holy Bible. I am grateful that the Holy Ghost, which moved through her, convicted me to trust and believe the King James Bible as authoritative, truthful and binding. Throughout my series of blogs, I have been quoting all my Bible verses from King James and there is a reason why I truly believe that the King James Bible is the perfect Bible and all the other modern versions, such as ESV, NIV, NLT and NKJV are fallible and contain errors. How can you say that the word of God is perfect when it contains errors?
As a brother in Christ, I will graciously highlight the main errors that I found when comparing different versions of the Bible. It is important to beware that there are many errors that can be detected in other versions but I will highlight a few of these errors.
For some context, we should start off with some simple Biblical history. The King James Bible is known as the Authorized Version and was published in 1611. For the next 270 years, only the King James Bible was used as it was the common version. No one had anything against the King James Bible and no one refuted the King James Bible.
Unfortunately, there are some “claimed” scholars that lacked faith and cannot fully understand the King James Bible. These “claimed” scholars also believed that the King James version has serious defects as they believe that no translation of the Bible is perfect. The King James Bible has a lot of “thee’s”, “thou’s” and other “old English” that does not fit the post-church age. The King James Bible was written in a way, where the order of words were grammatically incorrect in today’s day and age. Consequently, other modern versions were revised and published to replace the King James Bible. In 1901, American Standard Version (ASV) was published. In 1952, Revised Standard Version (RSV) was published. In 1978, New International Version (NIV) was published. IN 2001, English Standard Version was published (ESV). And so on and so forth…
Now why am I mentioning the history of when these Bibles are created? The reason why I am mentioning the history of these Bibles is that it will help you understand the sources that form the basis of these Bibles. The primary source that was used to create the Old Testament and the New Testament of the King James Bible include Antioch Syrian text. This Antioch Syrian text placed their emphasis on scriptures and evangelism. Copies of Antioch Syrian text were formed in the 1st to 4th century from Antioch, where apostles were called “Christians”.
Then tidings of these things came unto the ears of the church which was in Jerusalem: and they sent forth Barnabas, that he should go as far as Antioch. Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord. For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord. Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus, for to seek Saul: And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch. -Acts 11:22–26
The primary sources that were used to create the Old Testament and the New Testament of the modern versions include Alexandrian text, Westcott and Hort text. Alexandrian text was formed in Egypt and placed their emphasis on science and philosophy. Westcott and Hort text was published by the “scholars” Brooke Foss Westcott and Fenton John Anthony Hort in 1881. These scholars think that the King James Bible has many problems, which consist of human error in transmitting and copying, few manuscripts available during the time of King James Bible Translators and lack of Biblical studies to support the King James Bible. As a result, their solution is to use “scholarship” or the method of “Textual Scientific Criticism” to solve the problem of poor King James Bible translation. In other words, these scholars think that their scientific method of textual criticism will straighten God because He lost his power or is unable to keep and preserve His words.
The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever. -Psalms 12:6–7
In a practical context, these scholars added, deleted and manipulated God’s word to make it more understandable and clear in a man’s eyes. As brothers and sisters in Christ, you should be skeptical of what these scholars have done because these scholars did not preserve God’s word and keep them pure. They tried to change up God’s word to suit a man’s will instead of God’s will. They tried to please man instead of please God. The reason for this was that they want to eliminate the King James Bible and replace it with something that belonged to Westcott and Hort.
Even more ironically, the authors who created the manuscripts of the modern versions have their hearts aligned to false Protestant values. I can spend all day talking about their hypocritical viewpoints on Christianity but I will list 1 example of Hort’s viewpoint and 1 example of Westcott’s viewpoint.
Brothers and sisters in Christ, if you are a true believer, you would believe that you are saved by the grace of our Lord, Jesus Christ. You are not saved by your own merit, approval of man, things of this world nor baptism. However, Hort believed that you are saved by baptism, which is a Roman Catholic teaching known as “baptismal regeneration.”
…at the same time in language stating that we maintain ‘Baptismal Regeneration’ as the most important of doctrines…the pure ‘Romish view seems to me nearer, and more likely to lead to, the truth than the Evangelical. -Dr. Hort
Baptism assures us that we are children of God, members of Christ and His body, and heirs of the heavenly kingdom. -Dr. Hort
If you are also a true believer of the Holy Bible, you would just treat Mary as the mother of Jesus Christ. Westcott is no different from Hort because he also followed a Roman Catholic teaching by worshipping the virgin Mary.
After leaving the monastry, we shaped our course to a little oratory [small chapel], which we discovered on the summit of a neighboring hill… Fortunately we found the door open. It is very small, with one kneeling-place, and behind a screen was a ‘Pieta’ the size of life (i.e., a Virgin and dead Christ)… Had I been alone, I could have knelt there for hours. -Westcott’s letter to fiancée Sarah Louisa Whittard.
It is smaller than I expected, and the colouring is less rich, but in expression it is perfect. The face of the virgin is unspeakably beautiful. I looked till the lip seemed to tremble with intensity of feeling — — of feeling simply, for it would be impossible to say whether it be awe or joy or hope — -humanity shrinking before the divine, or swelling with its conscious possession. It is enough that there is deep, intensely deep, emotion such as the mother of the Lord may have had. -Westcott’s reaction to the painting “The Sistine Madonna”
My mother, whose name was Sarah Louisa Whittard, was the eldest of three sisters. She afterwards, at the time of her confirmation at my father’s request, took the name of Mary in addition. -Westcott’s son Arthur
To further illustrate my point, I can spend all day talking about the errors of all the modern versions in comparison with the King James Bible. As a gracious brother in Christ, I have decided to highlight 3 main Bible verses. These 3 verses caught my attention because it made me question the credibility of these modern “scholars.” It also gave me more confidence to trust that the King James Bible has no errors. The first verse that I want to highlight is John 3:16. Note that I will use ESV and NIV to compare and contrast as these are the versions that UWCCF likes to quote scripture from. It is important to recognize that these same errors apply to other versions and so feel free to open up your Bibles and seek the truth for your own faith!
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. -John 3:16 (KJV)

If you have not noticed, the word “begotten” is missing in the modern versions. If you do not believe me, you can check all the other modern versions and it will give the same result! If you are wondering, why am I making such a big deal out of one word? The answer is that the word “begotten” has a meaning that describes the divine nature of Jesus Christ. The word “begotten” means that Jesus Christ is born of the virgin Mary and God the father. By removing the word “begotten,” you are removing the deity of Jesus Christ and saying that he is just a normal son. However, we all know that Jesus Christ is 100% God and 100% man as we all indicate this in Gospel sharing and testimony sharing at UWCCF. But how can you say that he is 100% man and 100% God when you have a Bible that does not explicitly describe the divine nature of Jesus Christ, who is the son of God?
The second verse that I want to highlight is Isaiah 14:12.
How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! -Isaiah 14:12 (KJV)
How you are fallen from heaven, O Day Star, son of Dawn! How you are cut down to the ground, you who laid the nations low! -Isaiah 14:12 (ESV)
How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations! -Isaiah 14:12 (NIV)
If you are wondering, why am I making such a big deal out of Lucifer, Day Star, morning star? You may be tempted to think that Lucifer, Day Star and morning star all mean the same thing. However, it is not the case when you open your Bibles to Revelation 22:16.
I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. -Revelation 22:16 (KJV)
I Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to you about these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star. -Revelation 22:16 (ESV)
I Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star. -Revelation 22:16 (NIV)
Note that all of these versions state that Jesus Christ is the morning star. So if Jesus Christ is the morning star, how can you say that the morning star, day star and Lucifer mean the same thing? In fact, Jesus Christ is not the same as Lucifer. Jesus Christ points you to the truth whereas Lucifer or Satan steers you away from the truth.
Another way to look at Isaiah 14:12 is who should fall from heaven? Jesus Christ? Morning star? Day star? Lucifer? Hopefully, you are starting to understand why I am questioning the Bibles that CCFers are currently using to quote scripture and evangelize the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
The third and final verse that I will love to highlight is Acts 8:37.
And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. -Acts 8:37 (KJV)
Where is Acts 8:37 in ESV and NIV? That is a good question because there is no Acts 8:37 in ESV and NIV. How can you say that ESV and NIV is the Holy Bible when there is an omitted verse? You may think that this is a coincidence as it just happened only for one verse. But it is an actual pattern or behaviour that is happening consistently within the whole Bible! If you do not believe me, open up your ESV and NIV Bibles to Matthew 18:11, Mark 15:28 and Luke 17:36.
Every single word in the Holy Bible is very important!!! If any word of God is manipulated or omitted in any fashion, it does not become God’s word. It becomes a man’s word. Brothers and sisters in Christ, UWCCF and anyone seeking Christianity, I urge all of you to stop going through the motions, feelings, thoughts and routines and start being skeptical and serious about the truth. It will challenge you in your own spiritual walk with the Lord and will reinforce the notion of diligence within your daily life.
The purpose of comparing different versions is not to embarrass anyone but rather, it is to confront the truth. Many CCFers carry an ESV Bible in their hand because it is easy to read and convenient to find. I do not care about accepting worldly items, gaining approval of people or achieving high status. I care about understanding, trusting and embracing the truth. Do you have the perfect, Holy Bible that teaches and preaches the pure words of our Lord? How can you evangelize the Gospel of Jesus Christ to an unbeliever with a Bible that contains errors? How can you prove that the Bible is real if your Bible is fallible?

It is important to recognize that the tone within these sources may sound very direct and authoritative but the purpose of having this tone is not to hurt people’s feelings in any shape or form. The purpose of having this tone is to preach and teach the true words of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
