April 14 is the day when we get to celebrate Milwaukee, the city we love. With Safer at Home and social distancing in effect, Milwaukeeans are going to have to find new and creative ways to observe 414 day this year. Here are just a few ways that we can all show love to our favorite city.

  1. Order takeout from local restaurants

Many local businesses are continuing to serve our community amazing food through delivery services, carryout and curbside pickup. So, if you’re still in the city, show them some love and order in for the night. Here are just a few of our favorite restaurants:

Crossroads Collective offers a variety of food from local restaurants.

· Beans & Barley

· BelAir Cantina

· Crossroads Collective

· FreshFin Poke

· La Masa Empanada Bar

There are so many more local dining options that you can choose to order from! Just make sure you call ahead at any of your favorite places to see what services they are offering during this time.

2. Share stories and memories that you’ve experienced in our amazing city

While you may not physically be in Milwaukee, that doesn’t mean you can’t take part in spreading the love and appreciation for the city. Take a moment and share your favorite memory or a story about a great time you’ve had.

3. Take a walk in the community (but remember social distancing rules!)

Getting a breath of fresh air and taking a brief walk around the neighborhood is a great way to maintain a connection with the city. Remember the social distancing guidelines — remain 6 feet apart from others.

Atwater beach is located within walking distance of UWM and offers an overlook of Lake Michigan.

4. Virtually hang with your MKE buddies

Just because we are all at home, near and far from Milwaukee, doesn’t mean that we can’t hang out with our MKE friends! There are many virtual apps that allow you to have a face-to-face chat with one or more of your fellow Panthers.

5. Make a bucket list of all the Milwaukee landmarks, events, and businesses you’re going to visit once we can all be out and about in the city.

The best part about Milwaukee is all of the fun activities and events that happen throughout the entire year. Unfortunately, a few of those have had to be postponed or closed due to the pandemic. So, make a list of everything that you want to attend, like Summerfest, Pridefest, and the Public Museum. Then, when it is safe to attend, you can start checking them off!

Celebrating 414 Day this year will be different, but it can be done safely! We can’t wait to see all the creative ways that you will show our city love today.
