DEFINITION

The term Ux was coined by Don Norman. In his own words: “I invented the term because i thought human interface and usability were too narrow.

User Experience Design refers to the application of user centered design practices, and use of certain methods and techniques applied through process management to produce cohesive, predictable, and desirable effects in a specific person, so as to meet the user’s goal and measures of success, as well as the organization.

“User Experience Design” tends to be used interchangeably with terms such as “User Interface Design” and “ Usability”, however, they are just aspects of it. UX design covers a lot more than that. It is centered on the entire process of acquiring and integrating a product including the design, usability, branding and functionality. User experience design doesn’t just focus on creating usable products; it considers some other aspects of efficiency, pleasure, fun, etc. A good UX is one that meets a particular need and satisfies a user.

UX DESIGN CONSIDERS THE WHAT, WHY, AND HOW OF A PRODUCT.

— The why focuses on the motivations for adopting a product to know if they relate to tasks, values, views associated with the ownership and use of the product.

— The what focuses on the things which can be done with a product, it’s functionality, in an accessible, usable and pleasant way.

— The how focuses on the method to be adopted in creating products that provides meaningful and satisfying experience.

UX DESIGN IS USER CENTERED

UX design involves various tasks of which includes research, creating personas, designing wireframes and interactive prototypes as well as testing. User centered design is an iterative process that uses understanding and context as a starting point for all design and development.
