1.0 Recap

Yesterday, I wrote about my response to a question regarding barriers to innovation. I described a barrier that prevented me from thinking creatively. Here is a recap.

2.0 Watching Videos about Design Thinking

Today was packed with loads of activities at work. We launched a software application which I and my team have been working on for almost a year. It’s super exciting moving the app to production and seeing real humans use the app 🎉🎉.

So today, I mostly watched videos from IDEO(a design company building the next generation of products and services through design thinking). Watching David Kelley(the founder of IDEO) talk about design thinking is super cool 😎.

I’ll share some more videos in the resources section.

I loved the way he describes design thinking as a way of a breakthrough, finding solutions to everyday problems. He also talked a lot about using design thinking to build on the idea of another through collaborative efforts from a different culture.

He also talked a lot about ways of thinking through complex problems. Examples of these ways of thinking include Engineering thinking(usually tamed), Holistic thinking(most times relates to business), Analytical thinking(doing lots of research) e.t.c.

Another aspect David talked about was the wicked problem. In his words, he said most wicked problems and human problems and one needs to get really curious to understand them.

4.0 Conclusion

If you have any video to share about design thinking, do share!

The best way to learn is by asking questions and letting people know how you understand the topic. Feel free to leave a comment, we will definitely learn from it 🙂.
