Doing UX Design work ahead of the current sprint

More and more UX teams that adopt Agile practices are working one or two sprints ahead of the development sprint. And in many cases it is a good choice as it allows time for research and testing.

But this approach has major disadvantages that question the purity of the Agile process itself.

It favours the creation of small waterfall processes in between sprints and isolates the UX designers from the development team.
