Design in India is constantly influenced by the west and with time brands in India are shying away from using Indian typefaces in their brand identities which are a huge part of our culture. Though there are some brands that have used an Indian script and have created a sense of permanence and reliability in their own space.
Here are some popular logos using Indian script:
Kotak
The symbol of the infinite Ka reflects our global Indian personality. The Ka is uniquely Indian while its curve forms the infinity sign, which is universal. One of the basic tenets of economists is that man’s needs are unlimited. The infinite Ka symbolises that we have infinite number of ways to meet those needs.

Punjab National Bank (PNB)
Designer: R.K. Joshi, Ulka Advertising: Designed in 1984, the design with letter captures the ethos of the letter in Gurmukhi to conceptually complement Punjab National Bank (PNB). The orange colour also compliments the Indian ethos and traditional image. The Gurmukhi letterform enclosing a circle compliments the identity of PNB as a nationalized bank (system of the bank under the control of government).

Indian Oil
A saffron coloured circle/globe. Enclosed by a dark blue coloured outer ring and a dark blue coloured band across on which is written the name IndianOil in Devanagri script The saffron circle represents energy as a derivative of the Sun, connoting life and the future. The dark blue outer ring and the horizontal band symbolize technology for harnessing this energy.

Aaj Tak
Aaj tak is a 24 hour Hindi news television with a slogan “Sabse tez” (fastest) that streams in a lot of countries. The logo is simple, appealing and has a recall value the color red shows courage, action and confidence, white potteries purity and cleanliness. It’s sharp and rounded corners show flexibility.


Dainik Bhaskar
Dainik Bhaskar is in the list of top 5 most circulated Hindi newspaper in India. When we talk about photo print quality and newspaper heading font style Dainik Bhaskar Hindi newspaper editions do a great job. A newspaper appreciated for print presentation must have a unique logo and logo fonts. The logos typeface was designed by Dainik Bhaskar group itself which makes it unique and comprehensive.
