Art Ed Assistant — Prototype (revised)

(less dialog, more child-friendly activites.)

Artsy is an AI that presents herself as the art teacher’s educational assistant. She is professional, personable and enthusiastic. Her persona is based on a realistic art instructor, and will have a viewable profile of her own.

Artsy Meets the Parents and the students
After the teacher creates the classroom account, and a student registers, Artsy, reaches out to the parents by email invite to get a parent account set up. The parents can get the app by URL or the app store to any mobile device. The parent creates a private account and manages it.

The parent account is used for profile data input, and classroom communication between the teacher, the AI educational assistant, and the parent.

The child is added as a jr. account member. The child account provides fun activities to facilitate machine learning.

Teacher’s Side — Before First Day of School
The teacher has set up the account, class details and professional online resources he prefers. Artsy knows his schedule and picks the right time to discuss class issues.

(one week before class begins. AI sets a calendar time.)

[voice UX]

Artsy: It’s time for your enrollment report, do you want to hear it?

Mr. Artman: Perfect timing. Let me have it.

Artsy: You have 75 students this term. There are 21 in Monet’s Minions, 16 in Gaugin’s Gang, 20 in Cassat’s Cats, and 21 in Picasso’s Pirates. Most of them have completed at least half of the activities. A few haven’t started. I sent a reminder notice to their parents a couple of days ago.

Mr. Artman: Sounds good?

Artsy: Also, all but one parent survey has been completed. I’ve sent a couple of requests already, but the parent hasn’t responded. I’mm calling the school office tomorrow to see if we have bad information.

Mr. Artman: Great.

Artsy: OK. Do you want me to send you a student profile report with the current information by email?

Mr Artman: I will look at it online.

Artsy: I sent a link by text.

Mr Artman: Is there anything else you want to report?

Artsy: Yes, you have an appointment with the school administrator in 30 minutes.

Mr. Artman: Ok. thanks for the reminder.

Artsy: Anytime.

Class and Student Reports

(The Friday before class begins)

The teacher can upload prepared lesson plans and lesson goals, and the AI will compare them with the shared and known data to provide student learning profile insights, and lesson tips.

[voice UX]

Mr. Artman: Hello Artsy, I’m done with my lesson plans and learning goals. I’d like you to look them over.

Artsy: How will you be sharing them?

Mr. Artman: I’ll send you photos. Let’s focus on any kids that require extra attention on the first day.

Photo upload

Artsy: It’s done. Let me know what you think.

AI provides insights by the Lesson

Mr. Artman: So, Timothy Edyn in my Tuesday class is a Kinetic ESTJ. Add a helper role suggestion for him.

Artsy: Ok. Ok. You also have two ESFJ kids, in that class who may need extra encouragement. Socializing time during lesson will help them feel more comfortable.

Mr. Artman: Good suggestion. Thanks.

Artsy: Anytime.

(The first day of class)

To help the teacher observe the class, the AI can use the hardware on mobile devices and tablets to track the activity in the classroom. This may require additional hardware like an easel.

[voice UX]

Mr. Artman: Artsy, please switch to class easel mode. You will be observing the class. Keep lesson one goals in mind as you observe. Don’t interact with anyone but me.

Artsy: Ok. Good luck.

AI can observe via mechanized easel, using an attached personal tablet.
