This theme park in Sweden lets kids of all ages experience the action and adventure of the Old West — and I was charged with bringing that experience home with visitors through a highly immersive mobile game.

The first concept that we explored centered around a gravity defying “bullet control” game, where the player can control the direction of their bullet as it flies towards a target. As you move through each level, the player can swipe up, down, left or right and even slow down time to break bottles and avoid heavy objects, and to help you hit Sheriff Stars and the final target.

Once the gameplay concept was approved, I took a trip to the theme park to capture photo of the park’s backdrops, props, characters and more. These were then digitally altered into different game elements, so that the players really felt like they were in the game at all times. Each level contained real buildings and props straight from the theme park.

To finish off the finer details for the mobile game, I created photo-realistic menus and splash screens, and even recorded action sequences for cut-scenes in the game using actors and employees of the theme park.
