Initial Observations of the Scrum Method

From my observations, the Scrum method for UX design is a collaborative method for determining the features necessary for a minimum viable product — with an emphasis on the end user wants and needs. When developing a product it would be easy for designers, developers, and other stakeholders to draft a long list of features that seemingly all need to be addressed in order to produce something. The Scrum method constrains those involved to prioritize and determine what is actually necessary based on the user’s desires.

The ending result divides the design and development up into manageable chunks of work for everyone involved. The collaborative part of this allows everyone involved to have a say in the process — in both prioritizing features and in achieving manageable time frames.
