Human Workflows

Design as human intent

Design is among the first signals of human intention — an expression of our creativiity and desire to move humanity forthward. As modern day inventors, it is critical that we manifest a new way of working, one that is participatory and democratized. It is here where our entry into design workflows ought to be reconsidered.

Our human workflow

Human workflows arguably have the greatest impact on a teams ability to produce meaningful experiences. The operational procedures of a team, whether it be in collaboration or communication can vary widely, both of which stem from the cultural aptitude of the group.

Our human workflow is where all design teams must focus — to be clear about how people engage in human form. What operational values are cast in motion? To what end do we pull our humanness into our workflows?

Call to action

Consider the current state of design teams workflow — the human side of how you engsge with your colleagues. To what end are decisions articulated in the form of face time? How is it that your team democratically makes decisions? Focusing on the human element of team dynamics can better inform the procedural movement into collectively transparent workflows.
