Digital product development is a well-optimized process and thought out to the last detail. Everybody runs fast and reading 1 or 2 practical books simultaneously.

However, entrepreneurs and product-managers often do not realize that there is a hidden chest of knowledge — the scientific articles.

Nobody reads scientific articles, because they are difficult and sometimes boring, so it’s just not worth it. But if you use search engines like https://scholar.google.com and pick the right keywords — you can find highly relevant information. Of course, decoding it is another thing ;)

In 2014, there was a study on the behavior of players in Ancients 2 (DotA 2). Basically, the scientists looked at the movements and positions of the heroes, as well as the change in zones and distances between the players of teams with different levels.

The results have shown that at all stages of the match, players with a large MMR (skill level, used for team selection) are located closer to each other than players of weaker teams. That is, at any given time, any player from a strong team travels a shorter distance to their teammates than a player from a weaker team. The more advanced teams move through the game zones more often and faster, while the weaker teams stay in the same zone.

At this point you probably think, okay, now we know that experienced players use certain tactics, but how can we use this?

For instance, you can run training programs or simulators for gamers. Provide an onboarding or hints for beginners during the game. This will help them to perfect their skills faster.

That’s how dull scientific work can give a lot of benefits for an entrepreneur.
