So you registered your company in Uxtopia, now what?

This mini guide will help you setting up your first Preference Test on the platform, including a real example of a test performed. Preference Testing allows you to ask our testers their preference between 2 to 4 versions of the same element from your product, and to ask for additional feedback.

When and why to do it?

Usually companies perform Preference Tests while they’re still developing the design of new pages/elements. This allows them to get very useful insights on their products early on, but also to save money and time they would’ve spent to make changes on a later development stage. Is your product already developed? Great, no problem! You can still create a test and get very valuable feedback.

It’s never too late for gathering feedback!

An example of a Preference Test on Uxtopia

One of the most important visual elements of any company is the logo. For this reason, we decided to test 3 of our versions:

A) green background; B) black background; and C) orange background

And green was the winner! The results were the following:

Our test results, extracted from the automatic report on Uxtopia.

But why did the testers pick that option? More important than gathering the preference of the testers, is to know why. Uxtopia allows you to create an extra step in your Preference Test, where you can ask whatever you want to our testers. So, we did that too:

Question to the testers and results.

So, long story short, we got to know that our audience prefers the green version of our logo, and that the reason is the combination of colors.

Wrap-up

We tested our logo, but you can use pretty much any element you want - even complete pages - and get fast feedback about it. Go to Uxtopia and create your first test 🚀
