The short cycle of life

The hibiscus has finished his daily bloom, and has relinquished to gravity. In the damp sweat of evening, he curdles against himself, petals grounded, hugging tightly against the dark gloom of night.

There he will wait, looking up at his siblings, some still and unborn, who have days to go before they join him below.

Maybe something will pick him up, and use him for a higher purpose, but until then he must wait, his fate, quiet and still undetermined.
