What ruin is this,

Majestically flocked by crows?

Gathered and tasked

To protect the memories

Of those who once lived there

— Who deserted it and why?

So powerful its emptiness

And granite stone strength

A sombre reminder of times gone by

And the history of Irish restlessness

What mountains are those

Lying regally in the distance?

Aged and knowledged

Bared and left barren

Their trees a splendour of the past

— Still adding beauty to the

Rambling countryside

Waiting patiently

To listen to the same question

Again and again with pride

Thank you Trisha Traughber
