We get the mail from the mailbox and walk up our shared driveway and then we walk up the steps to the back deck and we open the back door and then we put the mail on the counter right inside the back door, which happens to be next to the coffee pot and then we look at it for a second and throw out all of the junk mail stuff and then we open the fun stuff, like birthday cards and stuff and then we open the “trick” junk mail, the ones that look threatening that makes me think we’re behind on our mortgage and then we open the bills and I look at them and think “we used too much electricity” or “wow water is cheaper than I thought and millions of people in the world don’t have water” and then we throw these bills into a metal box that sits inside our pantry and then eventually (like 4 days later) i’m like “i should probably pay those, wonder when they’re due” and then I pay the bills…

and then eventually we go through the big metal box of mail, usually when we lost something or forgot to get our new insurance cards out or like the other day when the bank was like, “why haven’t you cashed this refund check we sent you” and we were like “what refund check?” and then we searched through the box and found the refund check and then used our mobile deposit app because who needs mail anymore, really?
