End of the year lists barrage us every year, but really I want to know what Spotify is recommending that other people listen to.

Discover Weekly playlists are like a sneak peek into someone’s DMs.

Discover Weekly playlists are like what the future person may listen to.

Discover Weekly playlists are like cheesecake — you don’t have to eat the whole thing if you don’t want to.

Most of the time I ignore my Discover Weekly playlists.

Most of the time I’ve heard of the bands on the Discover Weekly playlist and decided I didn’t like them.

Just once I want it to recommend that I listen to Luke Bryan or something. Or The Eagles. Throw me a curveball.

That’s why I want to see what Spotify has for other people.

If they have any curveballs.

If they have any guilty pleasures.

Here’s the fear: if Spotify was to suggest Luke Bryan and then I listened to it, I’m afraid of what my friend feed will think of me. HE LIKES COUNTRY BROS? They will think.

What will happen to my brand?

What will happen to my ‘street cred’?

I want to creep on other people’s playlists to confirm what I want to be true — that they do have guilty pleasures just like me.

I want to know that they are real. That we all have problems. That they may too be in the top 1% of all Veggie Tale listeners.

It was for my small children. Or was it?

If you liked this post, please recommend it!
