Tezos news

First on-chain governance voting completed

In March Tezos blockchain completed its first voting on the protocol upgrades. Tezos on-chain governance system requires that all system-wide decisions are approved by the majority of the stakeholders. The first vote on Athens proposal gathered a total of 25,855 community votes. Proposal A won with a majority of 18,181 votes.

Coinbase adds Custody Service for Tezos owners (min. 1 mio. USD)

End of March proved to be successful for Tezos market capitalisation. In one day, Friday 29th, it went up 8% following the announcements of the Coinbase Custody service. Overall, Tezos cryptocurrency XTZ was reported by Cointelegraph as one of the strongest performers in March.

Binance´s Trust Wallet adds Tezos staking

In April, an announcement from Binance´s Trust wallet on introducing Tezos staking feature by the end of the second quarter of 2019 provided more optimism for the investors and fueled the market price growth. By the end of April however, XTZ rebounded back on the more stable trajectory.

Tezos Foundation grants are open

On April 1, Tezos Foundation announced a grant for to New Vector Limited, the company behind Riot Forum. The Tezos Riot forum is one of the most active online forums for the Tezos community. The grant signals Foundation´s commitment to the further expansion of Tezos protocol and ecosystem.

Ethereum 2.0 news

Meanwhile, April also brought some positive news for Ethereum investors, the second largest cryptocurrency to date. On April 20, the founder Vitalik Buterin proposed a higher staking reward for the upcoming proof-of-stake (PoS) algorithm implementation on the Ethereum blockchain. Coindesk reports that the announcement could turn Ethereum staking Into $160 Million industry.

Regulation news

In April, the regulatory developments of the cryptocurrency world took somewhat opposite directions in different countries. In France, the new PACTE law includes provision that grants blockchain-related projects the right to a bank account, provided they opt in to being regulated. Positive attitude to the blockchain and crypto developments was also expressed by Bruno Le Maire, French Minister of Economy and Finance, in his interview to Magazine Capital. At the same time, in India the government is considering banning all cryptocurrencies. Coindesk reports that a draft bill, dubbed “Banning of Cryptocurrencies and Regulation of Official Digital Currencies Bill 2019,” has been actively discussed among certain government departments.
