Ever since the pandemic started, there was an uproar on how we can finally work from home and own our day by using our time effectively. The real reason why it is no longer joyful is rather simple.

It is no longer fun and not what you imagined it to be because you had a completely different vision in your mind.

You believed that you would save time by no longer commuting long distances to the office.

You prayed that one day you could get your five more minutes of sleep without feeling so guilty in missing your 7:35 am train.

You thought you would be able to catch up on Family time or your favorite shows without feeling like you need to be somewhere in a meeting.

You visualized finding time to do your favorite hobbies after catching up on week-old laundry.

You imagined yourself acing your todo list without the interruption of office gossip.

You often dreamt of how cozy it would be just working at the cafe down the block in the midst of peaceful hum-drum of the city

Alas, now you feel that all this was just a perception of feeling like the grass is greener on the other side and now you miss seeing your office colleagues, getting your favorite coffee from the cafe, and most of all just miss the sheer freedom of going outside without wearing that moist mask (Yes, I said it..)

Fear not, you can still have your cake and eat it. With the experiment of working from home being successful during the pandemic, we can now urge our employers to let us choose how we work!

Whether it be remotely or 3 days in the office and 2 at home. It is time we ask for what we want, to be the most productive. Personally, I would like a Mcdonald’s option where no matter which country I locate to, I can find a physical office to pop in and feel in touch with my company values, if I need to.
