Character is made up of those principles and values that give your life direction, meaning, and depth, writes Stephen Covey. And, he adds, long-term success is more dependent on character than it is on charm, skills, and techniques that lubricate human relationships. We tend to trust people with character, says Covey. Character, he adds, includes admitting mistakes and practicing constructive values until character building becomes a habit.

When you think of character in these ways, who are the people that you know who have character? Are they role models? Do you know people who appear to be successful but who lack character? Do you view yourself to be a person of character?
