Better age verification checks.

Wouldn’t it be great, next time when you’re shopping for wine and asked to verify your age at the cashier, if a pop-up on your phone would notify you that “Systembolaget would like to access your age”? Then with just a click, you can consent to sharing that data -and only that piece of data- instead of flashing all the private information written on your drivers licence.

Or consider the age verification process when you visit video streaming websites. Couldn’t there be a better way to confirm the age of visitors than by just clicking a button that reads “I’m 18 years or older”? Is this is really an effective way to verify the age of visitors?

Today’s privacy preserving technologies could allow us to share information without compromising on privacy or accuracy of the data. Imagine scanning a QR code with your mobile phone to let the cashier or the website know that you are above the minimum legal age. This is iGrant.io’s vision. A world where people can consent to sharing data with a single click and to allow companies to verify it with 100% accuracy. A world where we don’t just “consent”, but we have “informed consent” on exactly what type of data we will be sharing and for how long.

This kind of smooth and transparent data flow can only be managed by a tool like iGrant.io; not by a lengthy Privacy Policy. That is not to say Privacy Policies are useless; but they are rather misused. Privacy requirements dramatically impact an organization’s strategy, purpose and methods for processing personal data. Companies should have a privacy strategy and a policy that outlines their principles; but if their strategy is built on customer trust, an investment in technologies that benefit users will be the differentiator.
