VamosVentures Kicks Off 2021 Scout Program

We are VamosVentures — a venture fund with a mission to invest in early-stage companies led by Latinx and diverse founders. Our driving force is the extraordinary entrepreneurial talent booming in diverse communities. We know it to be true because we were raised by it, and by focusing on Latinx and diverse teams, we can deliver on our goals of (1) investment returns, and (2) social impact through wealth creation, social mobility, and unique tech solutions.

We also have a third goal, and that is to support the development of a robust and highly competent pipeline of Latinx and diverse venture capital investors. Along with being a partner for diverse founders, we believe that supporting diverse investors is necessary to level the entrepreneurial and capital markets playing field. For this reason, we are excited to announce the launch of our first Scout Program.

We aim to build and support venture careers of Latinx and diverse individuals by offering aspiring investors ownership of the deal process, and providing resources and training to be successful investors. Some of the resources we will be providing Scouts are community, programming, and capital to enhance their skills, gain exposure to the VC world, and develop impressive track records.

As part of this program we want to bring together successful, motivated, and passionate professionals with a broad interest in the venture capital space who are driven to find and fund exceptional Latinx and diverse entrepreneurs.

Value-Add

The Scout Program will focus on investing in aspiring or established Latinx and diverse founders. Our inaugural program will run for the calendar year of 2021, starting February 11, 2021.

Scouts will receive initial training on the fund’s investment mandate, criteria, and participate in bi-weekly team check-in calls to ensure Scouts are investing their resources in the right places.

As part of the Scout Program, we will provide programming around fundamentals of early-stage investing, including:

· Networking, sourcing and pitching to founders

· Deal vetting and diligence

· Financial and investment analysis

· Post investment support

These fundamentals will ensure Scouts develop necessary skills and are able to prioritize investment opportunities. At the conclusion of the above programming, Scouts will have broad latitude in identifying, evaluating, and engaging compelling investment opportunities.

For attractive investment opportunities, Scouts will draft a short investment memo to review with the investment team and conduct diligence and execution for those opportunities that are consummated. Initial investment sizes will range from $100,000 to $500,000 per company. Our follow-on investment check size can be up to $1,000,000 or more. After the Scout Program concludes, Scouts will be supported in their endeavors to join the venture capital community as team members, fund managers, angel investors, and more.

Qualifications & Requirements

Interested candidates should meet the following criteria:

· Have at least 5 years of professional experience

· Be able to access and grow entrepreneurial networks across industries

· Have a strong interest in developing skills and experience as investors

· Be dedicated to increasing diverse representation in the VC community

· Be able to dedicate approximately 5 hours per week to the program
