And there you have it. Vanna understood your data, wrote some code and put forth a clean and crisp answer to your question.

You have the ARPU at 3030$ as per Fig 1.1, you have a faint memory of the past, the ARPU used to be $4000, this seems out of place!

Are you’re curious and want to know more on why the revenue has dropped?

A quick and obvious follow up question may be to find the percentage of users who have extremely low revenue and those who have an acceptable amount of revenue.

This is a common pattern — where one question naturally leads to the next question.

Just ask, “Hey Vanna! What is the distribution of average revenue per user ?”

Fig 2.1 — No of users in each revenue

Vanna has generated this really cool histogram of average revenue per user for us. It would have taken a while to write this SQL manually!

The data in Fig 2.1, shows the distribution of average revenue per user in different buckets. The bucket with the most users falls between 500–1000, followed by 1000–1500 and 1500–2000 buckets. The highest bucket is between 10500–11000, but it has the lowest number of users.

In other words, we have found the problem. A lot of customers spend less than $1500. But why?

Your instinct says — that these user won’t have our premium tech support.

Just ask, “Hey Vanna! What % of users with less than 1500, and revenue greater than 4000 have premium tech support respectively ?”

Vanna automatically generates this really complicated SQL statement, which would have taken a significant amount of time to write, for an analyst.

It also leads to this insightful chart (Fig 3.2), which shows us that a very small percentage of the low-spending users have access to premium tech support.

Finally, your final question might be the geographical epicentre of the problem statement.

Just ask, “What is the percentage of users with premium tech support in each of the top 10 cities with the most customers ?”
