Fashion sense: Preppy style
A note on how to look good in the office without being too official

My sense of style evolves almost every day. It depends on quite a number of factors, for example; where I am going, how I am feeling, how much time I have before leaving the house and if I am feeling a little “extra extra” on that day. That said, though, one of my most favorite styles is the prep or preppy style. This is usually pretty simple. All I do most of the time is throw on a basic color shirt (mostly white) and play around with the layering.

Earlier this week I came across an article about prep style and what it entails and I was pretty excited to learn more about what I can do to make myself look more presentable, yet stylish and fashion forward. Back when I used to work for a youth organization known as Business Made Simple, my boss required me to be presentable yet also mobile. This was not a challenge per se because I would get away with wearing my chinos and denim shirts as long as I wasn’t looking like a hooligan. The preppy style was one of my favorite go-tos then.

This look can be modified and will definitely work for anyone of any age. The key is to be minimalistic about the outfit and not to overdo anything. You cannot wear ripped jeans to achieve a preppy look. You can use base colors like black, white, blue and pink to set the tone of the look.

Style tip
Preppy style is almost like a school uniform, it has a clean-cut image and does not necessarily have to border on dapper. This sense of style provides anyone with the ability to be free and expressive yet clean-cut.
To achieve this look, some of the basic items you can work with are: boat shoes, cardigans or sweaters and chinos.
