Picture Book
A picture book.
Just discovered.
Yellowed clippings,
Faded snapshots
Of a time I don’t recall —
Over thirty years ago.
Important to someone.
Notes and scribbles —
Here and there;
Articles and stories
From news reports.
Portions highlighted.
Retained for what reason?
Some value attached?
Who knows now?
Really just a window into the keeper’s mind.
A period left behind,
Ensconced away someplace
Beyond my reach.
A thin, sliver of my life.
Never pondered,
Unless inserted into my consciousness
By some outside force,
Dredged up from where I cast it off.
So long ago.
