The Decline of the Power of Statistics — Variables, Weekly.
Hello people,
Welcome to this week’s edition of Variables, Weekly.
In recent times, the media has been pushing the narrative that we now live in a ‘post-truth’ or ‘post-factual’ world. I don’t think any idea has irritated me more in the past year. I’ve read a lot of literature concerning the subject and have also been thinking about the implications. Science and statistics have come under attack, experts are no longer to be trusted. The prevailing sentiment is these experts use numbers and arcane jargon to manipulate ordinary people like you and I.
I’ll just leave you here with the first article I have lined up today.
Enjoy!
