Brucato of Abry, Corey Thomas of Rapid 7, Brendan Hannigan of Polaris Partners, Rick Grinnell of Glasswing VC, Alex Benik of Battery Ventures, Harold Moss from Akamai, Randy Sabett of Cooley, and Phil Masonof Mason & Mason. Harold Moss of Akamai: “What are we ultimately protecting? We are protecting people.”
With a wide range of backgrounds within the cybersecurity space, the panel delved into Russia, innovation, defense and talent. The VCs and operators spoke about the reality of threats emanating from Russia as well as other countries where there are also plenty of bad players. Venturefizz notes that CEO Corey Thomas of Rapid7 had an interesting take pointing out that companies are now re-acclimating to two things: cyberattacks for political gain and then sabotage-based attacks . Alex Benik spoke of how the massive shift to the cloud brings risk and opportunity for VC investors. Brendan Hannigan shared that there are huge innovations in the ares of how applications are developed. C.J. Brucato predicted more on innovation and how it will come from developer driven platforms.
