We’re Hiring a GIS Professional
The Vermont Center for Geographic Information is seeking a creative individual with strong communication skills to join our all-star team of dedicated GIS professionals here in Montpelier, Vermont. With a mission to empower a wide diversity of partners with geospatial technologies and data driven decision making, you will serve as the primary point of contact for VCGI and coordinate communication and activities for GIS projects and programs in the State of Vermont. Responsibilities and tasks of this position include: supporting Vermont’s statewide property parcel data program and municipal and regional planning efforts, training diverse audiences to use specific geospatial technologies/tools, producing multimedia training content, coordinating professional development and outreach events, and responding to ad hoc requests for information and maps.
The Team
We promote and sustain an abundant open data landscape and an engaged community that dreams big with lidar, hacks for the civic good, and hangs out on the cutting edge of cartography. We manage Vermont’s open geodata portal with over 1,000 records. We learn new things and listen with humility. We tell stories with data. We learn from our failures and don’t make perfect the enemy of good. We are friendly. We bring new data (and even old imagery) into the geospatial realm, and support a community made up of Vermont businesses, state agencies, municipal volunteers, engineers, fifth-graders, foresters, nuns, surveyors, epidemiologists and artists alike.
