Today, we have the pleasure of introducing you to Kyle Raskin, a vital member of our team and Fund Controller at Vector. Beyond being an incredible team member, getting to know Kyle on a personal level has been an absolute delight. Read on to learn more about Kyle!

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO WORK AT VECTOR?

The culture, flexibility, and our clients. Although most of Vector’s employees are fully remote and scattered across the country, working at Vector has the feel of a tight-knit family owned and operated organization. With our open “door” (Slack) policy, I’m just as comfortable asking anyone about a technical accounting topic as much as I am with sharing a funny update on what my one-year-old son did over the weekend. We even have a dedicated Slack channel just for showing off our kids and what cool things we’re up to outside of work. As a new parent, I am beyond grateful for the flexibility to be able to spend quality time with my son before and after work, and it’s such a comforting feeling knowing I’m just down the street from his preschool. As for our clients, many are first time fund managers, so right off the bat a deep-seeded relationship develops as we guide them through the intricacies of fund accounting and operations, instead of feeling like just another vendor with only a transactional relationship.

WHAT IS SOMETHING ABOUT YOU THAT PEOPLE WOULD BE SURPRISED TO LEARN ABOUT?

My team and I won our championship baseball game at Dodger Stadium in extra innings senior year of high school. I’ll never forget the feeling of stepping foot on that field for the first time.

HOW DO YOU ENJOY YOUR BREAKS DURING THE WORKDAY?

Checking my fantasy sports teams, getting a quick run in on the treadmill, or if it’s summertime I might take a dip in the pool.

WHAT SKILL DO YOU THINK EVERYONE SHOULD LEARN?

Humility — being humble and putting others first is such a valuable work and life skill. You never know what someone else is going through. It’s also important to know when it’s okay to take your foot off the gas and reset when your plate gets too full. As a new dad I’m learning more and more about humility each and every day.

WHAT’S THE BEST ADVICE YOU CAN GIVE TO SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO WORK WITH US?

Be resilient. As a startup, we face so many different challenges as we grow and scale the organization. The ability to roll with the punches and bounce back after each challenge puts us in the best mindset to succeed both individually and as an organization. We’re all in this together. One firm, one team.
