From sports leagues to happy hours, there are a multitude of activities we participate in at Vector Media Group. One of the most gratifying recent events we did was volunteering together at Riverside Park. Here are a few reasons why it is great for a company to volunteer together.

1. Hard Work

Trade the keyboard and mouse for a shovel or paintbrush and get your hands dirty. It is truly rewarding to be engaged in an activity and see the fruit of your labor.

2. Learn A New Task

No matter the task, you will always learn something new. You may not have any previous experience but it’s good to get out of your comfort zone and try something new and challenging.

3. Collaboration

Working with each other with a clear goal is a great way to bond with different members of your team, some that you may not work directly with on a project. You also can meet different members of your community that have similar interests.

4. Contribute To Your Community

It is important to not only be active in your industry’s community, but also the community you live and work in. Volunteering is a great way to get involved and help take care of the people and places you care about.

“In New York City, it is great to contribute to these public spaces I take advantage of almost daily.” -Maggie Sheehy, HR Manager

5. Embody Your Company’s Mission and Spirit

By immersing ourselves in our communities and in new experiences, we are able to meet new people, build strong relationships and have a better understanding of the world around us.
