Tips and Tricks #4: Icons8 — An Endless Library of Icons

We partnered with Icons8 to bring you a lot more options for designing mockups. Our new overhauled library lets you browse the collection of Icons8 with over 69,000 icons. There is no fee, so you can basically use all icons for free without any restrictions.

This article will describe how you can use icons from the Icons8 library in your illustrations and artworks.

Let’s say you are working on an illustration and you want to add a clock icon to it. Tap on the round plus icon on the top right and up pops the mockup library. In the library you will see five tabs:

1. Gallery — Here you can save your own icons which you can reuse later in other illustrations
2. iOS — A collection of UI elements for iOS
3. Android — A collection of UI elements for Android
4. watchOS — A collection of UI elements for, you guessed it, watchOS
5. Icons8 — A search function which lets you access all icons in the Icons8 library

Switch to the fifth tab and tap on the search bar. Enter “clock” and wait for the search results to appear. Tap on the desired icon and it will be added right onto the canvas.

Adding icons from Icons8 to your illustration

If you want to reuse this icon in other illustrations you can save it to the gallery inside the mockup library. Here is how you can do that:

1. Select the icon on the canvas
2. Open the mockup library by tapping the round plus button on the top right
3. Make sure you are in one of the first four tabs
4. Tap the plus button in the top left corner

Adding your own icons to the mockup library

If you tap on the name of one of your saved icons in the gallery tab you can even rename them. Pressing and holding on an icon will enable edit mode, where you can delete icons you no longer want to have in the library.
