What is a mockup?

A mockup can be many things, but most commonly it’s a visual way of representing a product, showing how the product is going to look like.

Why should one consider using a mockup?

Sometimes an artist will create a concept piece for a billboard or poster, however, the artist might not have the money to print out the image or be able to get permission to hang or post the design. Thus, a mockup similar to the one above, allows the artist to show how his or her design would look if it were to be printed.
