Welcome to our Vectornator 1.8 update! In this version we’re bringing you many new things that we're excited for you to try.

Rotate and Resize On the Fly

We listened to your feedback, so we are making several changes to how you interact with the objects on your canvas. We added four additional resizing handles to selected objects so that you can resize paths even more precisely and an additional rotation handle on top of selected paths allowing you to rotate and scale more precisely and faster than ever.

In the shape tools, like the one to draw rectangles or circles, you can now move and resize paths without having to change to the Selection Tool. Just tap on a path to select it and drag on the edge of the path to move it around.

Nodes, Reimagined

Starting with version 1.8, we decided to merge the Add Node Tool with the Node Selection Tool to create a more ergonomic experience. Simply tap on the edge of a path to add a new node while the Node Selection Tool is active.

While using the Selection Tool you can easily switch to Node Selection Tool by double tapping on a path now.

Template Layer

Got a mockup design or an artwork that you want to trace? With template layers you can easily trace those images. When there’s only a bitmap image in the background layer and the respective layer is locked it will be detected as a template layer automatically. Now you can enable outline mode in the document settings and instead of seeing the outlines of the image as before Vectornator will dimm it and everything you draw on top will be shown in outlines only.

This will be very handy for sure!

Edit Groups and Masks

One of the most requested features that you have been requesting is being able to edit groups and masks without the need to ungroup or unmask them. Starting with Vectornator 1.8 you can finally edit them right away. Make sure that the Selection Tool is active and double tap on a mask or group.

Further Improvements

Of course we’ve also tweaked many other things, like for instance that moving objects around in complex documents feels noticeably faster or that after moving objects around and zooming in, they won’t stay blurry anymore.
