Almost every boy wants to be the Batman, but, unfortunately, not everyone can bring this dream to reality 😞 But what everyone can do is to draw the favorite character or his logo. And Vectr is the perfect place for this!

Batman’s first appearance took place in 1939 and since then he has been a very popular comic, TV, movie, video and cartoon character. During the travel of the Dark Knight through years, his bat-suit were remodeled multiple times, so as his logo. For now, there are already dozens of them coming from the original logo made in 1940:

The well-known Batman logo from Christopher’s Nolan trilogy:

And the latest “Batman vs. Superman Dawn of Justice” by Zack Snyder:

Here in Vectr we decided to make a 1992 Batman Returns logo because of its popularity and appearance not only in the movies but also in a number of cartoons loved by kids all over the world. So get in your bat-mobile, we are getting started! 😎

Step 1

The first step in designing the logo is making a basis, for which we use the Ellipse tool (you can find it in the left toolbar). To change the color of your shape, use the Background section which is situated in the right toolbar.

Step 2

Frankly speaking, the Ellipse tool is the most helpful one in our design. That is why for this step we also need to select it and create an ellipse of a smaller size. For this logo, four identical elements are required. But there is no need to create a new one each time, you can copy your object by using Ctrl+C on Windows or Command+C on Mac. To paste it, press Ctrl+V or Command+V.

To create the Batman logo you have to rotate these ellipses to make wings. In order to do that, hover just outside a control point until the rotating handle appears, then click and drag. Selections are rotated by 15° intervals, but you can rotate freely by holding the ⇧ shift key while you drag. Don’t forget to change the color and make these shapes white to match the background ☝️

Step 3

The Ellipse tool will also be perfect for creating two circles. The only useful hint here is that to create a perfect circle you should hold the ⇧ shift key and draw the ellipse at the same time.

STEP 4

Now, when we are ready with the wings of the batman, it’s time to finish its upper part. For creating a head, we use numerous shapes available in the left toolbar. So you have to create a shape, then resize it and make white, and finally adjust it for creating a proper form of the head. Don’t be afraid to create as many shapes as you need! We will show how to get rid of them in our next step 😉

STEP 5

We are so close to the final step! We now have to hide all the shapes we placed over our first ellipse. You can’t imagine how easily it can be done! All we need is the Workspace tools. So, click on the black ellipse, then hold Shift and click on one of the smaller shapes. You will see the tools above your shapes immediately. Now you have to click on the second box from the left side and the smaller shape will disappear. Repeat this action with all the other shapes! Easy, right?

STEP 6

Finally, export you design at the right top corner. Remember that you can export the work in SVG/PNG/JPEG formats.

Here is our Batman. Looks awesome, right?
