How To Create A Simple Flyer or Poster
Have you ever thought how many times per day you see any kind of flyers? I bet — not less than 4: your letterbox is filled with them, you automatically take them from promoters while hurrying somewhere, you get them as an addition to some of your purchases and, finally, you see them in a form of advertising posters on the walls.
However, I am more than sure that you don’t pay any attention to 98 % of flyers received and your brain gives you a command to throw them away the moment you touch them. So why does it happen? 🤔 I think you know the answer: because you have already seen them all with their identical designs and attempts to add as many words to this small sheet of paper as possible. As the result, one of the most effective means of advertising becomes the most useless one.
Only 2% of flyers are worth your attention and in this tutorial, we will teach you how to create a stylish but simple flyer which will contribute to the success of your business.
Step 1
First of all, we need to set up the workspace in Vectr. There are various types of flyers and each of them requires a different size. So, it is really important to choose the very type that will suit your perfect design. For our flyer, we have chosen A4 size as it is convenient to work with. For changing the size, go to Pages menu (from the left side of the workspace) and at the bottom, you will see Page Settings.
Step 2
Depending on the theme of the flyer, you can choose a suitable background for it. You can either use an image or set up the one-colored background. We decided to combine both variants for a better effect. In order to import the photo, click on Upload Image button in the left toolbar or just drag and drop it in Vectr. You may also import the files from the Internet with URL. Just copy the URL of the image and paste it into Vectr (Com+ C/Com + V on Mac or Ctrl+C/Ctrl+V on Windows).
To create a background for the remaining part of the page you can choose a Rectangle shape and fill it with an appropriate color. Of course, the colors of the picture and the background should match each other, so you may use the Eyedropper which you can find under the palette of colors in the Background section (right toolbar). It makes easier to find the color that would create a perfect match 😉
Step 3
As we chose such a lovely design of the flyer with tender and delicate colors, we decided to complete it with Heart shapes (you may find them in the left toolbar in the section More shapes) to reveal this atmosphere.
Step 4
To add some useful information, we use the Text tool. It allows you to place the text in different parts of your flyer by selecting the text box and dragging it; pay enough attention to the color of the text, its size and type of the font. These features make your design harmonious (you may edit your text finding all the necessities in the right toolbar). Be sure not to overload the flyer with useless information not to distract people’s attention.
Step 5
When your work is done you can export it to your PC by using the Export button. Or you can send the flyer to printing without wasting time and share your information immediately 😃 It’s really easy to print what you’ve created in Vectr. You just need to click on the Export menu and then click Print.
