Attending an online event on Veertly? Here’s what you need to know…
Thousands of people have already attended events on Veertly 🎉. As we want everybody to have a fantastic online event experience, we have drafted the top 6 tips for you to consider as an event attendee:
- Be prepared ☑️: Save the date to your calendar before the event and make sure you allocate 15 minutes before the event to ensure you’re in a good spot (ideally not too noisy) with a solid internet connection. Have your audio (speakers or external headphones) and video devices (built-in or external cameras) ready.
- Select the right device 💻: Use your PC or Mac to attend an event on Veertly. Access via mobile devices (smartphones and tablets) is currently being developed and will be deployed soon. Stay tuned for any updates!
- Choose the best browser 🌎: Veertly is a browser-based solution, which means that you do not have to download any additional software! However, you need to use a browser that supports the WebRTC framework. We recommend using a Chromium based browser like Google Chrome and Microsoft Chromium Edge. But Veertly also works fine with others such as Mozilla Firefox. For other browsers it may work well, but we cannot promise that all functionalities and the video connection will behave as well as it can on a Chromium based browser.
- Grant the browser access to your devices 🎥: Make sure to allow your preferred browser access to your microphone and camera to get the best
possible event experience and to be able to network and interact with other attendees just like in an offline event.
You will be prompted when entering a video-call to give these access rights. If you have missed it or accidentally blocked the access, simply click on the little lock icon in your URL bar and be sure to select ‘Allow’ for the camera and microphone.
5. Update your profile 👩🏻💼: If you want other people to get to know you and find you in the event space, make sure you have your profile updated.
You can do this by clicking on your avatar on the top right and select ‘Edit profile’.
Make sure to click the ‘Update profile’ button when you have added all your information. Note that when entering the event as a guest, the only required information to share is your first name. All other data can be provided on a voluntary basis.
6. Have fun and meet new people👩🏾🤝👨🏻: Be open to network and approach others proactively to get the most out of the session.
It might still be a bit awkward to directly jump into a video call with a stranger, but we are convinced that this will become the new normal — as normal as approaching another person in a physical event whom you have not met before.
And of course make sure to connect with others on other social media platforms like LinkedIn and Twitter.
