It’s Friyay night, also winter, and what could one want more than rest and … CHOCOLATE?! 😋 Make sure you try this for your next Netflix-and-chill night. 🎂 It’s a myth that anything chocolatey or sweet or the typical dessert does need dairy products. Let’s break that myth now!

All ingredients used in this dessert are vegan. One major piece of good news for anyone going vegan is that Oreos are vegan! Most of these are ingredients you can find in any Indian city’s supermarket or groceries app. If you’re a fan of either chocolate or strawberry or if you happen to be a mousse person, you’d love this.

Oreo Strawberry Mousse

Ingredients Needed: (serves 2)

Oreo — 3–4 biscuits

Strawberries — 3–4 small ones

Flax seeds — 1.5 tablespoons

Chia seeds — 2 tablespoons

Vegan milk — 1/2 a cup

Water — 1/3 cups

Optional Ingredients:

Cocoa powder — 1 tablespoon

Vegan butter (peanut/almond/other) — 1 teaspoon

Strawberries

About the additional sweetening agents:

Note that this recipe does not include sugar or jaggery or any other sweetening agents. It’s your choice, of course. If you would like, you could add sweeteners of your choice, like maple syrup or chocolate syrup or cocoa powder or such.

About the vegan milk:

You can use any vegan milk of your choice; it could be either soy milk or almond milk or oat milk or other. If you don’t have vegan milk at home, you can even make your own vegan milk.

Method:

Step 1: Wash the strawberries, chop them into small pieces, add the flax seeds, and mix them in a cup.

Step 2: Add the chia seeds, mix well, and if needed, add the optional ingredients, too. I have added the cocoa powder but not the vegan butter.

Step 3: Add 1/3 of a cup of water and let the seeds and other ingredients soak for a while, say for about 20 minutes.

Step 4: Break the Oreo biscuits into small pieces and add them to the mix.

Step 5: Add the mix to a food processor or mixer, add 1/2 a cup of vegan milk, and mix well.

Step 6: Test how the taste has come out. You can add a little more cocoa powder or strawberries if you feel the need for a strong sweet flavour.

Step 7: Transfer the content to a bowl and refrigerate it for a few hours.

Step 8: You can top this with fruit slices or Oreo crumbles or nuts or maple syrup or chocolate syrup. I used just some more Oreos and a little extra strawberry.

Step 9: Serve cold.

Anyone can easily make this at home; all that you need are the ingredients, a few utensils, and a food processor or mixer.

Not only is this a delicious dessert but it is also loaded with nutrition, not just sweet. Strawberries are rich in vitamin C and help prevent the risk of cancer and control diabetes.

Flax seeds are rich in protein, omega-3 fatty acids, and fiber, and they help you manage your weight, too.

Chia seeds also have several health benefits.

As you probably already know, oat milk and nut milks are rich in protein, too.

To conclude, our dessert for the day, Oreo Strawberry Mousse is vegan, delicious, and is good for your health, too! 🥂 How about that!?

What are you waiting for? Go vegan, be guilt-free, and enjoy life this veganuary!

Happy weekend and happy veganuary, you all!
