Vegan Chronicles Needs YOUR Voice!
Vegan Chronicles is growing quickly and we need your help!
The vegan revolution is always looking for new voices that can explain why we do what we do.
Our main goal is to smash vegan stereotypes — including (or perhaps especially) those held by vegans! What stereotypes or memes?
- “Being vegan is hard!”
- “Plants don’t have feelings!”
- “Vegans are pushy!”
- “We’ll never have a Vegan world.”
- and so on.
We would love to publish your views. Here’s how to get started:
I do not have a Medium account. How would the process work to write / publish?
- You would first create a FREE Medium account (there are two tiers, so please be sure to create a FREE account, not the paid member one).
- Please get in touch by: a) writing a comment on any of our existing articles, so we get notified; b) reaching out on social media (Twitter; Facebook)
- Give us your Medium name, and we’ll add you as a writer to Vegan Chronicles.
If we do an interview, what questions will you ask?
We love to do interviews! If you’re more comfortable with this format (instead of, or in addition to, writing your own story), pls let us know.
The point of VC is to dispel common stereotypes that ppl have abt vegans, veganism, etc. What’s the most irritating or unhelpful stereotype that you think people have about vegans?
That’d be a great place to start.
Will it only be shared via your website?
Whether its your own story or an interview that we do, it will be published on the Medium publication, which is ad-free — so we’re not doing this as some commercial thing. We’ll share it on social media, because that’s the whole point.
In the case of your own story, you retain full authorship/copyright, so if you want to pull your story for any reason at any time, it’s totally up to you. No explanations necessary. No approval necessary. You just click ‘unpublish’ and/or ‘delete’ and the story is gone from VC.
So you have total freedom of action! :)
Please note: sometimes some other publications may try to ‘steal’ Medium content by just republishing it, but usually it’s done with a link back to the original Medium post.
In our case, we don’t really have that problem because the only publications that would be interested in republishing our content would be publications that are interested in sharing information about veganism, which is the whole point.
May I go by a first name basis or do you require full name?
No full name is required. Perfectly fine to go by first name or even a pen name. We’re totally open to that. We’re also VERY open to people writing in languages other than English.
The main goal is to create an open and inclusive space for vegans to share their stories. YOUR stories!
(Fun fact: this short guide came about from a DM between one of us on the VC side and an awesome vegan activist on Twitter. I take the liberty of publishing it because it might help that voice take the leap of faith in sharing their story. We really hope so!)
