It’s a special Friday for us at Veggielution, and for more than 1,400 other farms around the country participating in CSA Day! The last Friday in February is the biggest day for CSA sign-ups, and we’re taking part in this nationwide event by opening registration for our 2017 Farm Box season. We’ve made some changes to the program for this year, all of which will support the needs of the farm while providing even more reasons for you to become a member! Here’s a snapshot of what to expect from the 2017 Farm Box:

  • Pick-up on Tuesdays either on-site or at the Studio Climbing Gym
  • Weekly shares will include fruit in at least 18 of the 22 weeks ($30/week full cost, $15/week low cost)
  • Free choice at on-site pick-up (with a cap on items available in limited quantities)
  • Bread and cut flower add-ons available, with more bread varieties than 2016
  • Pre-paid credit option at the Farm Stand instead of Saturday Farm Box pick-up

The South Plot on Wednesday morning before we drained it, and today after adding wood chips to the pathways.

The farm came out on the other side of Monday’s big storm more or less unscathed, with some minor flooding in the South Plot and out in the middle of the alphabet fields, but nothing too intense. We spent our morning on Wednesday digging trenches to drain down the standing water in the fields, with great success! We also put down wood chips in all the pathways in the South Plot to help with water infiltration, so we’re well-prepared for the next little storm this weekend. Hopefully after that there aren’t any more atmospheric rivers headed our way and we’ll have some consistently dry weather for awhile. I’m looking forward to (finally) completing our irrigation install in the MidAcre and pulling back the tarps to plant spring veggies into weed-free, dry soil!
