Everything is blooming!
This month has absolutely flown by, and here we are at another First Saturday! Tomorrow promises to be an excellent day on the farm, with Yoga, Cocina, Art in the Garden, and the debut of our Eastside Grange food truck. And of course we’ll have Youth Garden activities, our farm volunteer workday, and the Farm Stand. Tomorrow’s Cocina class will feature our very own Mayfair Grown Fellow Claudia Dominguez as the guest chef, who alongside her mom will be teaching a typical Guatemalan dish of black bean tostadas with beet and cabbage slaw. Stop by and pop your head in the kitchen to say hi!
The farm is looking lush in this beautiful spring weather, with flowers blooming and recently-planted veggies growing faster and faster with the lengthening days. The weeds are also benefiting from the rain and warm weather though, so we’ve been keeping up with them as best we can, mowing tractor paths and field edges, and spending time each day weeding beds in the South Plot. Tomorrow we’ll be spreading wood chips between the South Plot and the MidAcre, keeping the path clean and tidy and minimizing regrowth of the grass throughout the season. Summer is coming our way and we want to be well-prepared for the busy days ahead!
