Best Selling Vehicles in Canada in Q1 2016

Canadian vehicle sales continue to increase, but what are customers buying? New car sales are slumping, but trucks remain popular to start 2016.

Some thing never change. The Ford F-Series amassed 32,204 sales in Q1 2016, up 24.9% from 2015. Canada’s favourite pickup has been the #1 selling vehicle in the country for seven consecutive years now.

#2 Ram Pickup

I love the look of the 2016 Ram 1500 and it’s clear many Canadians do as well. The Ram pickup had 22,333 sales in Q1 2016, which is an increase of 8.2% YOY and good enough to rank second in vehicle sales.

#3 Honda Civic

The Ford F-Series dominates the truck market, while the Honda Civic is the best selling car. The Civic has been the best selling new car in Canada for the past eighteen years. Honda sold 12,519 Civics in Q1 2016, up 19.7% YOY.

#4 Hyundai Elantra

Hyundai has seen Elantra sales increase a lot in recent years in Canada. Hyundai sold 11,578 Elantras in Q1 2016, an increase of 21.2% YOY. If the Elantra keeps selling like this, it’ll surpass the Civic in sales soon.

#5 GMC Sierra

Another pickup truck rounds up the top five. GMC sold 11,559 Sierra trucks in Q1 2016, which is up 11.3% over the same period last year. The Sierra isn’t on the same level as the Ram in terms of sales, but the gap is closing.
