Why you need a FLIK?
Like most tech startup founders, I did not come from a rich family. We were a working middle-class family. My parents were working-class stiffs, they traded their time for money. Growing up, my mom taught me the value of the dollar. She taught me how to stretch a dollar, how to shop clearance, and how to get full use of the dollar. Basically, how to make a dollar out of fifteen cents. Then my education and career in nonprofit taught me how to get three uses out of every $1 dollar. I say all of this to say, I understand the need and value of social capital and a powerful network. Favor doesn’t have street value, but life is hard without it. That’s why I got a FLIK.
What is FLIK?
FLIK — Female Laboratory of Innovative Knowledge — is a community hub for female founders/leaders and apprentices to connect. Founders can take on apprentices in a meaningful project in their business, and help them gain valuable skills. Apprentices train alongside female founders and prepare themselves to be the next wave of change-making entrepreneurs. A FLIK apprentice understands they are not obligated to receive a wage contingent on the fact that apprentices train 10 hours a week or less per week. Apprenticeships can be remote upon mutual agreement. When I say get a FLIK I mean get a female apprentice today!
Why You Need A FLIK?
Once upon a time, someone gave me a chance and now I’m paying it forward. They say you can’t get experience without getting experience but what you can do is prove your worth. A female apprentice from FLIK proves their worth. When you get a FLIK your female apprentice begins her journey towards building a strong network that generates both social capital and human capital for life after graduation. It also increases women’s entrepreneurship, globally.

Positions are still available for Front End, UX/UI Design, and QA tester until mid-October when it’s time to get a new Product Manager.
