It’s 2021 and we’re back! Despite a delayed start to the MIT Spring term, we have a huge serve of venture studio news to kickstart the year, with a particular spotlight on internship opportunities for the summer. We look forward to sharing more of these opportunities in the next month as well as more interviews like Eric Schneider’s internship experience at 25madison.

Summer 2021 Internships

Atomic —general internship applications are due January 31

X (the moonshot factory) — for the first time, Google’s innovation studio has a slew of internships from strategy to technology (too many for us to list, in fact)

FJ Labs — summer associates will spend most of their time with one portfolio company and receive venture capital exposure, but are auditioning to be an entrepreneur with the studio in the future

Jobs

Global Head of Reweave, Enviu — Venture builder Enviu has recently focused on sustainable fashion and is looking for someone to head up their efforts

Call for Founders

HAI (High Alpha Innovation) — High Alpha has launched a new venture studio called ‘Resilient’ which will focus on immigrant founders (they get the job done) who want to build B2B SaaS ventures

M13 Launchpad x Pepsi — after a successful partnership with Proctor and Gamble Ventures, M13’s venture studio arm is partnering with Pepsi to incubate a cohort of food, nutrition and consumer goods entrepreneurs. The corporate partnership model is familiar ground for new partner Anna Barber who has joined from Techstars

Newlab — the Brooklyn Navy Yard-based incubator is seeking founders with existing companies to join one of their Innovation Studios. Focus areas include mobility, sustainable cities, circular economy and future of work.

News

We remain huge fans of GSSN’s research and community. If you haven’t already seen their recent white paper, get the highlights and some fantastic insights from a panel of the co-authors in their ‘Disrupting the Venture Landscape webinar.

It wouldn’t be a new year’s kick-off post with a trends prediction for 2021. (If you predicted all of 2020, you probably don’t need this blog.) Here’s a take from High Alpha on the tech trends for the year.
