The importance of celebrating each other.
When last did you feel celebrated? And no, I’m not talking about your birthday.
It’s easy to brush aside the importance of celebrating. After all, you’re not at your destination yet.
You still have a big client to land, a platform to build, a new location to expand to. Celebrating before you’re done could seem premature.
Well, I disagree. You’re always going to have a new target to hit.
In designing your journey to success, it is important to include celebrating.
And more important than that is surrounding yourself with people who are happy to celebrate you.
Having a community that celebrates you is important on your journey to success.
Last week we had a legendary football player, Kanu Nwankwo visit our Park.
Kanu played as a striker for Nigeria and has played for Inter Milan, Arsenal, West Brom, Portsmouth, and Ajax. And he captained the Super Eagles for 16 years.
He has achieved a lot in the world of football, including two African player awards and a Champions League medal.
It was interesting to watch our community respond to him. We observed 3 things:
1: They were excited and happy to celebrate him.
2: They were inspired by his presence.
3: It gave them a momentary break from their work.
Celebrating each other does the same thing. It fills you with happiness, it inspires you to celebrate someone. Just that person’s story and journey can become a point of reference for you. Celebrating also allows you to take a break and refresh.
It doesn’t have to be an elaborate party. Just being able to acknowledge that you’ve made progress or hit a KPI is suitable. It could be a coffee you treat yourself to or a massage. Anything that allows you to appreciate yourself and congratulate yourself is fine.
In our community at Ventures Park, we are always looking for opportunities to celebrate each other. Just two weeks ago one of our co-workers Lamide had a beautiful baby girl and we were excited to celebrate with him.
Another of our co-workers got accepted into a grant program and we rallied around them to celebrate too.
Not only are we happy to celebrate each other, but we are also excited to bring opportunities worth celebrating.
You would always have so much work to do. Celebrating each other is a very important part of your success journey. And we look forward to more celebrations of achievements with our community.
