In a recent statement obtained by TechCrunch Amazon is expected to bring back full disk encryption to Fire OS users. This comes after the outrage users showed after they removed the feature from their tablets

“We will return the option for full disk encryption with a Fire OS update coming this spring,” — Amazon spokesperson via TechCrunch

The removal of this feature didn’t leave everyone’s information totally at risk. The information transfered and stored in their cloud would still be encrypted, but off someone were to get access to your device, they would be able to easily gain access to your information.

Following Apple’s fight against the FBI, security and privacy is definitely a concern among smartphone and tablet users and Amazon was definitely wrong for making a move like that.
