Google declares war against Amazon

Earlier this week Google released a new addition to their product lineup called Google Home. Google Home competes directly with Amazon’s Echo digital assistant. Amazon’s Echo system is already a really good system, and it can answer most questions, but Google Now is starting to become a little more enticing.

One of Google Home’s strong points is the ability to deliver contextual search results. For example, if I ask, “Ok Google, how many stars are in the galaxy?” I might get a response along the lines of, “There are 100 Billion stars in the Milky Way Galaxy.” Then I can ask, “Which one is closest?” and I will get the response, “The sun is the closest star.” Google Home’s abiliy to recognize the context of the question, and respond appropriately gives the system a much better edge over Amazon Echo.

Another pro about Google’s system is the ability to swap bases to fit your decor. The different fabrics and colors really make it easy to make the system seem like a part of your home.

Overall, Google Home is a great competitor to Amazon, and it seems like a solid choice, being built off of an already great and widely used network really gives it an edge. I can’t wait to see how this system is used and accepted into the market.
