Google is experimenting with a new type of ad in its app that will let you try games without installing anything. The concept is called “trial run ads” When you search for a game, an ad will pop up with a “Try Now” button, and you will be able to try the game without installing anything.

This is an initiative by Google to help gamers acquire more users, and keep them using the app instead of installing it and never using it again.

Smartphone users on WiFi will be able to stream a game an play for up to 10 minutes, then install the app if they are satisfied. Google says this will drive “highly-qualified users who are more likely to stay engaged with the app after install.”

When Can I Try It?

These new features are expected to arrive within a few weeks to the Google app. It is not known specifically which Android devices will be supported. They are also expected to release a new “Indie Corner” to the Google Play Games store. This section will feature the best indie games that Google picks, and the best quality games will be first in line.

All these announcements come after Google’s “Developer Day” conference in San Francisco today. Developer targeted features, and api’s were talked about and introduced to expand the capability of Google’s game store.
